Description

The Hamilton, Bermuda, Royal Gazette, July 24, 1883, prints a report of a picnic at the cricket grounds, Spanish Point, July 11th: "The old game of four base ball was then indulged in, and very forcibly reminded those present of bygone days." Spanish Point is 3 miles northwest of Hamilton.

Same, July 22, 1884, has an ad for a "Four Base Ball Match" at East Warwick, July 24, between the Warwick and Sandys Clubs. Warwick and Sandys are parishes in Bermuda.

Same, Aug. 19, 1884, has an ad for a Hamilton store which advertises for sale "Base Ball and Bats."

Same, Jan. 28, 1896, has a notice where the Hamilton Cricket Club threatens to prosecute anyone "playing base ball" or feeding their cows on their cricket grounds, Rosebank property.
