Description

The Daily Iowa State Register Oct. 18, 1866 reports on a state base ball tournament, involving the following clubs: Burlington Crescent, Mechanics, Orchard City and Westerns; Scott Club of Davenport; Hawkeyes of Mt. Pleasant; and the Actives of Ottumwa.

The Davenport Quad City Times, Aug. 24, 1866 reports that on Aug. 23 in Waterloo, the Hawkeyes of Waterloo beat the Capitol City of Des Moines by 9.

Mt. Pleasant IA (1860 pop. about 3,500; 1870 pop, about 4,200)is in the eastern part of the state. It is about 25 miles NW of Burlington IA, which is on the Mississippi River.
