Description | The Pittsburgh Gazette, June 27, 1863 reports that the Enterprise Club is to play the Lincoln Club today in Allegheny. The New York Clipper, June 23, 1866 mentions the Enterprize [sic] Club of Allegheny City. The Pittsburgh Commercial, July 10, 1867 calls the Enterprise Club the champions of Western Pennsylvania. Dr. E. S. Umbstaetter is president. The Pittsburgh Daily Post, May 12, 1924 has a "Do You Remember" article about how in the 1860s Allegheny had 6 BBCs: the Enterprise, Lincoln, Allegheny, Atlantic, Resolute ad Unknowns. the Lincoln and Allegheny played on the north commons, back of the penitentiary. Gossips about several of the Enterprise players. Pittsburgh annexed Allegheny in 1907. |
