Description | From the Whitby Chronicle (June 4, 1868, page 2):
BASE BALL. The American game of base ball is becoming very popular in Canada, and is fast taking the place of cricket. A club has been formed in this town, under the auspices of several of the leading gentlemen. The members meet for practice every afternoon at three o'clock—of course, Sundays excepted—at the vacant lot, opposite Green’s hotel. We are requested to state that everybody will be welcome “to go and take a hand in.” |
