Description | Stewart, Japanese Colonization of Eastern Paraguay, pp. 146-147: "Athletic events usually emphasize track and field, with a particular emphasis on baseball. In transferring their predilection for baseball to La Colmena, the Japanese have provided a rather unique contribution to the Paraguayan landscape. The principal diamond, constructed in the planta urbana in 1946, has accommodated as many as eight complete teams recruited from approximately 130 pioneer families." A colony championship is played each year. |
