Biography

A William S. Newsom of Davidson County, a member of Browne & Baker's Art., applied for a Confederate pension. He mustered in as a sergeant and left as a first lieutenant.

William S. Newsom, the brother of Cheatham teammate Robert H. Newsom, was also born in 1842 or 18433, and it is likely they are the same person.
