Description | H. J Philpott writes of sockball as played in the St. Louis area before 1890. The rules he describes seem indistinguishable from those of dodgeball. Thus, we might ask whether "sockey" -- also known in the midwest at this time -- might also be a form of dodgeball, and not a safe-haven game. |
