The Vancouver Independent, July 19, 1883, reports that on the 4th, the Miles BBC of Fort Canby defeated the Ilwacos of nearby Ilwaco, 28-16.

Fort Canby, at the mouth of the Columbia River, existed until 1906. It is now part of Cape Disappointment Park.
