The match game of ball between the Independents of Alexandria and the Clippers of this place, at Osakis on Saturday last, commenced at 2:30 p.m., by the Clippers going to bat. After a few skirmishes our boys were decided "whitewashed." The Independents then taking the bat made five tallies, followed by three for the Clippers. The second inning the Ind. made their largest score and saved them from defeat. In the fourth inning they were "whitewashed" making them somewhat (?) resemble the Anglo-American race to a distant observer. After the first few innings our boys gained steadily on the Ind. as may be seen by the score below. We will have to say that there was some very poor playing on both sides, and therefore the game was not as scientific as was anticipated. The following is the score:

Innings          1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

Independents 5 9 3 0 2 3 1 3 4 - 30

Clippers         0 3 2 3 1 3 2 7 4 - 25
