| Text | Over 100 club representatives attended the NABBP convention in Manhattan in December 1860, and made no major rule changes. The weight of the ball was reduced to 5 1/2 to 5 3/4 oz., and its size from 9 1/2 to 9 3/4 inches. The drawing of foul lines from home base to the first and third bases was required. Rules on what constituted a fair or foul ball were clarified. Despite recommendation by the Rules and Regulations Committee, the "fly game" was again rejected, 51-42. |
