Description	The Wanganui Chronicle, Jan. 20, 1887, runs an ad where the Marton Base Ball Club challenges "Wanganui, or any team on the coast, to a friendly game of Base Ball at Wanganui, on the 22nd instant..." Marton is about 30 km east of Whanganui (current spelling), on the North Island. Note that this 1887 team predates the Wellington teams which, according to an article in Sporting Life (see Hutt) first played in October 1888.
