Description

An article in "The Missionary Review," vol. 29 (1906), p. 945: "On tour in Persia. Rev. E. W. McDowell writes from the Kurdish Mountains: "I have been living among the mountain tops, 12,000 feet above the sea. Organized two baseball nines: taught them the game. The boys pick it up like ducks to water."

Rev. McDowell was a very well known missionary, long resident in the area. At this time he was stationed in the Urmia mission. It is evident his work took him to the high mountains in the area.

"Persia" is the former name of modern Iran.
