Description

The Columbus Daily Enquirer, Oct. 26, 1870, “Fun at the Fair: We also learn that the Atlanta, West Point, and Montgomery Base Ball Clubs will contest with the Independents of our city for the premium offered to the best “base ballists.””

The Columbus Daily Sun (Ledger Enquirer), June 23, 1870 reports that "young men" had formed a BBC with Horace Spear as captain, Joe. S. Hill president. This was the Independents. See same, Aug. 3, 9, 10, 1870
