Description	The Helena Independent Record, June 23, 1881 reports that a Helena team will go to Fort Shaw to play the local team there on the 4th. Same July 1, 1881 gives the roster of the Fort Shaw team. )Helena won this game. See the Fort Benton River Press, July 13, 1881). Same, Sept. 1, 1881 says that at the state fair Helena, Butte, Fort Assiniboine and Fort Shaw clubs will play for the Territorial Championship and a prize of $500. Browning, "Montana Baseball History" p. 23 calls this team the Excelsiors. Fort Shaw was established in 1867. It is 24 miles west of Great Falls.
