Description

The Korea Times, March 29, 2016 has a long article on early baseball in Korea. Citing a diary by the wife of the U.S. Consul in Seoul, it says a game was played in Seoul, near the "East Gate," Oct. 23, 1894.

Further, it cites an English language Seoul newspaper, "The Independent," mentioning a baseball game in its April 25, 1896 issue. And later that year, printing a box score of a game between the Seoul Athletic Club and a team from the USS Yorktown.

The Independent, May 12, 1896 reports that in a baseball game in Seoul, the American residents team won 23-19.
