Biography
The brother of noted Illinois educator Ella Flagg Young, Charles T. Flagg was a private in the 19th Illinois infantry and fought at the battles of Stones River and Chickamauga. Flagg passed through Nashville several times during 1862-1863.
Flagg came to Nashville after the war and worked as a coppersmith and plumber, as part of the Flagg and Smith plumbing company (1866-1867).
A biography of his sister, Ella Flagg Young, states that he was killed in a railroad accident in 1868.

The name on the muster roll states "Charles F. Flagg," but this must be a transcription error. Both men were coppersmiths from Cook county born around 1842.
Charles Theodore Flagg has not been absolutely confirmed as the member of the Rock City club. However, he fits the profile, and is the most likely candidate, as the only young man named Flagg in Nashville and was also a Union veteran like his teammates Metcalf and Hart.
