Description	The Wheeling Daily Register, Aug. 5, 1867 mentions the Champion BBC of Wheeling. The Wheeling Daily Intelligencer, Sept. 16, 1867, says this club is from the northwest Wheeling neighborhood. William E. Akin, "West Virginia Baseball: A History, 1865-2000", p. 15 says that by 1867 Wheeling boasted 20 clubs, including the Baltic (the best), Resolute, United, Fly, LaBelle, Actives, Jockey, Columbia, Bachelors, Enterprise, Avalanche, Eagle, Benedicts, National, Muscle, Buckeye, Belmont and Champion. A Thorburn club played in 1867 (see Wheeling Intelligencer, April 19, 1867).
