The poetry, dedicated to the Principal of Phillips Exeter Academy, was accessed 11/17/2008 via Google Books search "fellowes moral." Fellowes, born I 1791, attended Exeter starting in 1803, and graduated from Bowdoin in 1810. The verse is about the Academy, and thus the poet is recalling events from c1805. See #1741c.1 for the first of several "urge the ball" usages.
