Description	The Shreveport Southwestern, July 22, 1868, reports that "the young gentlemen of this city" organized the Excelsior Base Ball Club of Shreveport, at a meeting "last Monday," and elected W. E. Kennedy, President, and E.M. Van Nostrand, VP. Shreveport LA (pop. about 218,000 today) is in the NW corner of the state, close to the borders with TX and AR.
