Description

The Nevada State Journal [Reno], June 10, 1871: "Base Ball--Reno has a base ball club." The article goes on to say it was organized last Saturday evening by about 20 "young men." J. P. Callahan was elected president, F. R. Day vice president. Captains of the two nines are C. C. Downing and Frank Day. Called the "Reno Stars."

Reno (fd. 1868) had 1035 residents in 1870.
