Description

The Harrisburg Telegram, July 28, 1945, reports that Pfc. Ralph Lyons, a  prewar umpire, now umpires baseball games "played by the men at the Dakar Army Air Force Base."

During WWII, the US Army air corps took over air bases in Dakar and used them to transport planes and supplies.
