A second club, the Independent Baseball Club, which had competed earlier against the Halifax Club, held its organizational meeting a couple days later..." The first informal game had been held July 27, 1867, won by the Halifax Club 77-55 over 7 innings. A return match on Sept. 7, 1867 had the Independents winning 39-32 in 9 innings. Win/Loss Records As Far As We Now Know
Warning: Users should not rely on a team's won-loss record as a reflection of its "standing" among all base ball clubs. Team schedules were not balanced, and a good record against mostly weak opponents does not signify a leading club.
