Description | The New Orleans Times Picayune, June 6, 1902, reported under the headline: "A Physician Tells of Baseball Games Played in Austria and on the Shores of the Bosphurus", that Dr. H. Manning Fish says that on July 4, 1900, he and other American med students in Vienna played a game of baseball, with "Captain Burke's" team winning 13 to 8. Next year Dr. Fish participated in a baseball game at Roberts College, near Constantinople, Ottoman Empire (now Istanbul, Turkey) among the American students there, and some locals. |
