Description

Seymour, "The People's Game" vol. 3, p. 305 says that in 1883 a game was organized between the sailors and the officers, of the US warships Kearsage and Lancaster. The game was played at the city's race course, with the enlistees winning 12-9. The game was witnessed by many locals.
