Description

The Freeport (IL) North West Oct. 5, 1865, reports on a base ball tournament in Dubuque, hosted by the local Julian team. Same July 12, 1866 notes that the Julians of Dubuque played in a multi-state tournament in Rockford.

In September, 1865 the Julians (aka Juliens) lost to the Empire of St. Louis 35-29 (Encyclopedia of Dubuque; Dubuque Daily Herald, Sept. 30, Oct. 1, 1865).

Dubuque Daily Times, Aug. 6, 1865 notes a meeting of the Julien BBC.

Dubuque IA (1860 pop. 13,000; 1870 pop. about 18,500) is about 75 miles NE of Cedar Rapids on the Mississippi River.
