Description | The Perth Daily News, Oct. 16, 1893: "The first baseball match played in W. A. took place on Saturday last [Oct. 14] on the Barrack Field between two picked nines of the Fremantle Baseball Club." The Barrack Field is now the Fremantle Oval, and home to a local football team. On Parry Street. Same Aug. 4, 1892 reports on a meeting to form a Western Australia Baseball League. It appears that those interested were inspired by baseball played in Melbourne and elsewhere. |
