Description:	<p>The Army and Navy Journal, May 31, 1884, prints a letter from a correspondent of the Baltimore Sun, dated April 21, Smyrna (modern Izmir), which excerpt starts: "The crew gave several exhibitions on shore of the American game of base ball. On March 11, the [USS] Lancaster got under way for Alexandria, Egypt..."</p> <p>The Sun printed several letters during this time from this correspondent, but not this one. The Lancaster had baseball clubs, noted in other letters.</p>
