Description | In 1867 and 1868 the Vicksburg teams (Hill City, MS Valley, Star) all seemed to play at a field near Reading's Foundry. See Vicksburg Herald, Feb. 5, 1867, March 18, 1868, Oct. 15, 1868, inter alia). The foundry of Abram B. Reading (1813-87) produced cannon for the CSA during the Civil War. It was located on the corner of Washington and First Sts., per the 1860 city directory. |
