Description

New York Clipper, Sept. 19, 1863: "The Hawkeye Club of Dubuque, Iowa, is a new organization under the regulations of the National Association. More recently, another club has been organized called the Key City Club, which continued, give evidence that civilization is gradually progressing westward."

The Julian BBC of Dubuque was playing games as early as 1865. See the Freeport (IL) Journal, June 6, 1866.
