Phillips is one of those unfortunates who have a faculty of making enemies and of whom many disagreeable things are said, and yet, in justice, one can't help admiring the able manner in which he piloted a new experimental club through all the trials and tribulations of a first season. … Phillips and Bancroft are considered among the best financial managers in the business, and both have made enviable records this year. Horace is now on his way East.
