Text	The umpire shall require the players on the batting side who are not at the bat, nor running the bases, to keep at a distance of not less than fifty feet from the line of home and first base and home and third base, or farther off if the umpire so decides, except the captain and one assistant, such only to be permitted to approach the foul line not nearer than fifteen feet to coach the players running the bases... The object of the rule is to prevent any such interference with the field side as used to be indulged in when the “in” side would crowd round the bases, and by their language and noise either intimidate or bother a base-player or fielder so that he could not really play his game.
