Text	[Athletic vs. Mutual 915/1874] McMullen, after trying to “hit to leg”–that is, hit a ball “fair,” and yet so it would rebound short to the foul-ball field–sent a sharp bounder to Matthews [pitcher], and, of course, was thrown out at first base.
