"Magnificent Whistle Stop" (a history of Mendota), p 244: August 8, 1867: "The Prairie Base Ball Club of Mendota now formed. G. N. Jones and L. B. Crooker make best runs, fall down flattest, and spread out widest."

George N. Jones was an alderman 1867-68. Lucien B. Crooker (1839-1926) was a lawyer, a Union army captain who co-wrote the history of the 55th Illinois.
