Description | Oakland was a development south of Chicago, originally Cleaverville, renamed in 1871 after the new local railroad station. At this time it was in Hyde Park Township. This "elite neighborhood" later (1889) became part of Chicago. It's located on the Lake, near 41st St., East of Bronzeville.
