Description | The Chicago Tribune, Sept. 5, 1867, reports on the baseball tournament on the Rock Island County Agricultural Society Fair. Among the teams playing were the Scott of Davenport, Iowa, the Wapello, Quickstep, and Live Turtle of Rock Island, Peoria of Peoria, Actives of Moline, the Black Hawk of Camden Mills, the Olympics of Hampton, and the Athletics of Coal Valley The Rock Island Argus, July 15, 1867, notes that the flag of the BBC of Hampton was left in Rock Island by Lucius Wells of Hampton. The Rock Island Argus, Oct. 15, 1867 reports that he 2nd nine of the Actives of Moline lost to the 2nd nine of the Olympics of Hampton 43-40. Gives box score. Hampton is just north of Moline. |
