Text | Umpires have to look out sharply while occupying their positions to avoid being hit by wild, swift, curved pitchers. Pearce suffered considerably in games here, and Higham has been severely hit several times. It's no light matter to umpire a game nowadays, independent of the abuse a man gets from kicking players. |
