The Charlotte Observer, March 12, 1874 says the Independent BBC of Charlotte will play the Carolina Military Institute club. The latter is a Charlotte school.

Same, March 15, 1874 says the Cadets defeated the Independents 39-29 on March 14, in a game at the Military Institute.

The Carolina Military Institute was founded in 1873 as a successor to the defunct NC Military Institute. Games were often played on its spacious 27 acre grounds in the "suburbs."

Win/Loss Records As Far As We Now Know

Warning: Users should not rely on a team's won-loss record as a reflection of its "standing" among all base ball clubs. Team schedules were not balanced, and a good record against mostly weak opponents does not signify a leading club.
