Data | “Base ball” was enjoyed by children participating in the annual summer outing connected with the Village United Total Abstinence Band of Hope Society of King's Somborne, a village in Hampshire near Winchester. A newspaper reported that “on arriving at their destination . . . games such as cricket, rings, base ball, and swings were freely indulged in till the call for tea came.” |
