O yes made a batter club also.” Two entries cite extramural play. April 11: “The boys play a game of ball with the 77&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt; N. Y. V and beat them 12 members.” April 14: “The boys play a match game of ball with the Jersey boys and got bet by 40.” There are no references to ballplaying after April 17, and Brockway’s diaries for his other 3.5 years as a soldier are not referenced.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;George F.
