Text | [editorial matter] The reserve rule, instead of proving a benefit to minor leagues was quite the reverse, as the hope of retaining and selling players led all clubs into assuming greater financial responsibilities than they could bear. Salaries with them were no object with the prospect of profitable sales in view. |
